Job Overview: The Field Unit Shelter Coordinator will play a crucial role in the Lviv Field Unit by conducting field assessments to identify urgent needs for emergency interventions and housing solutions projects. This position requires proactive engagement in identifying technical concerns, delays, or risks and suggesting appropriate responses. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement, distribution, and monitoring of resources to support affected populations and program activities. Additionally, the role involves monitoring partner-implemented shelter interventions to ensure they meet the needs, safety, and dignity of affected populations, while also participating in coordination meetings and technical discussions relevant to shelter program implementation. The coordinator will contribute to the preparation of monitoring updates and reports for internal and donor purposes, highlighting the progress and humanitarian impact of interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Field Unit Shelter Coordinator include: conducting field assessments in various locations within the Lviv Field Unit Area of Responsibility; identifying and flagging emerging technical concerns, delays, or risks; coordinating procurement, distribution, and monitoring to ensure uninterrupted support; supporting the monitoring of partner-implemented shelter interventions; participating in coordination meetings and technical discussions; contributing to the preparation of monitoring updates and reports; and ensuring that all activities align with agreed technical and humanitarian standards. The coordinator will also be expected to engage with local and regional authorities regarding shelter activities and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: The essential minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required. The desired profile includes good technical knowledge about construction in Ukraine, understanding of Ukrainian construction legislation, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, is necessary, along with the ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment and contribute to a multi-national team.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of civil engineering, architecture, or construction engineering. Additional Notes: The appointment for this position is for an initial period of six (6) months and is classified as a full-time role, with official working hours from Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
