Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in implementing a comprehensive communications strategy aimed at enhancing awareness and engagement with the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) Knowledge Hub. This position requires the consultant to produce a variety of high-quality communications materials, including educational and explainer videos, to effectively convey OHCHR's mission and initiatives related to ESCR. The consultant will work closely with the Chief of the ESCR Section and the Cluster Lead of the ESCR Knowledge Hub to ensure that all communications align with the overarching goals of OHCHR and resonate with diverse global audiences. The consultant will also be responsible for training OHCHR staff on effective communication techniques and ensuring that all outputs are accessible and engaging.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of the communications strategy for the ESCR Knowledge Hub, developing relevant products and activities, conceptualizing and producing educational and explainer videos, adapting video outputs for various platforms, providing editorial and technical guidance to OHCHR staff, collaborating with OHCHR communications colleagues, ensuring informed consent and confidentiality during production, documenting lessons learned, and proposing improvements to communications activities. The consultant will also be required to supply all necessary video equipment and ensure that all outputs meet the highest standards of quality and ethical considerations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in communications, journalism, film/media production, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in strategic communications, video production, multimedia journalism, visual design, or visual storytelling is required, preferably within an international organization. Proven experience in producing high-quality written and multimedia content in human rights, humanitarian, development, or advocacy contexts is essential. Strong visual storytelling skills, proficiency in video production workflows, and a solid understanding of digital communications and analytics tools are also necessary. The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain a strong attention to detail is crucial.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in communications, journalism, film/media production, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background ensures that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively implement the communications strategy and produce high-quality multimedia content.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in strategic communications, video production, multimedia journalism, visual design, or visual storytelling. Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position.
