Job Overview: The Translator position is a vital role within the support services department of DRC, primarily focused on facilitating communication through translation and interpretation. This role is essential for ensuring that all internal and external meetings, as well as program field visits, are conducted smoothly and effectively. The Translator will be responsible for accurately executing all translation and interpretation requests, ensuring that both oral and written communications are conveyed with precision. The successful candidate will engage in various tasks, including providing interpretation services between national and international DRC staff and government officials, translating documents from Ukrainian and/or Russian into English and vice versa, and participating in the translation of training materials and tools. This role requires a high level of professionalism and adherence to principles of accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality at all times, making it crucial for the effective functioning of the organization in a multi-cultural environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Translator include:
Providing interpretation services during meetings and discussions between DRC staff and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
Delivering accurate translations of documents from Ukrainian and/or Russian into English and vice versa, maintaining the integrity of the original content.
Participating in the translation of training materials, tools, and communications to support the capacity-building efforts of DRC.
Ensuring that all translation and interpretation requests are executed promptly and accurately, adhering to the principles of confidentiality and impartiality.
Collaborating with team members to facilitate effective communication and understanding across diverse cultural contexts.
Maintaining a high standard of professionalism in all interactions and upholding DRC's values and Code of Conduct.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the Translator position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A university degree in philology, translation, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in interpreting and translation or a relevant field.
Fluency in Ukrainian and an advanced level of English or higher.
Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel and Word.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
A commitment to upholding ethical standards and DRC's core competencies.

Additional Notes: The Translator position is offered as a full-time role with a contract length of 12 months, which is renewable based on performance and funding availability after the successful completion of a 3-month probation period. The position is classified under Band H - Non-Management, and the designated duty station is Mykolaiv, Ukraine. The expected start date for this position is May 202
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national or expatriate contracts.
