Job Overview:

  • This role involves leading the design and execution of donor strategies, policies, and analytics, while ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement. The Principal will work closely with various internal teams to facilitate the strategic sourcing and utilization of donor funds, which are essential for the Bank's operations. The position requires a proactive approach to generating innovative ideas and evidence that enhance the management and reporting of donor funds, particularly in a resource-constrained environment. The Principal will also represent the Bank in external forums and contribute to the organization of donor events, ensuring that EBRD is recognized as a strategic partner of choice for donors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal will oversee the implementation of EBRD’s Donor Strategy 2026-2030, collaborating with banking, policy, and corporate teams to develop annual implementation plans and management dashboards. Responsibilities include acting as the custodian of existing donor fund policies, leading policy reviews, and developing future frameworks for donor engagement. The Principal will also manage donor fund analytics, producing reports and insights on global trends in Official Development Assistance (ODA) and contributing to external publications. Additionally, the role involves developing and delivering training programs on donor fund management, overseeing communication activities related to donor strategies, and engaging with key stakeholders to enhance EBRD’s donor strategy. The Principal will also contribute to internal working groups and change management initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the global aid architecture, including the economic, political, and financial challenges that influence donor engagement. In-depth knowledge of bilateral and multilateral donor landscapes, fundraising modalities, and the use of donor funds for blended finance is essential. Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively are required. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills, project management experience, and the capacity to influence stakeholders across various sectors. Familiarity with operational project approval cycles and donor community dynamics is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, international relations, political economy, or a related field is required. Candidates should have experience in writing and publishing thought leadership pieces, as well as familiarity with blended concessional finance structures.

Experience:
The position requires extensive experience in strategy, policy, or donor fund management roles within government organizations, multilateral or bilateral development finance institutions, or international organizations. Candidates should have a solid track record in project and people management, as well as experience in fundraising from public, philanthropic, or private donors. Experience in utilizing donor funds within blended finance investment structures is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the regions in which EBRD operates.
