Job Overview: The Education Officer plays a crucial role in the day-to-day implementation of educational activities within the field office, particularly focusing on programs such as the catch-up program (CARED) and the Psycho Social Support Program (BLP). This position requires a strong commitment to adhering to NRC policies and guidelines while ensuring that educational activities are executed according to established strategies, proposals, and budgets. The officer will be responsible for preparing periodic reports, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring timely procurement and distribution of educational materials. The role also involves providing technical training to the education program team and partners, promoting improvements in educational strategies, and actively participating in data collection and assessments related to the education programs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Officer's duties include ensuring adherence to NRC policies and guidelines, implementing education activities according to strategic plans, and preparing reports as required. The officer will coordinate with relevant stakeholders, manage procurement and distribution of educational materials, and provide tailored training to staff. Specific responsibilities include data collection for emergency interventions, supporting training sessions on educational programs, conducting needs assessments, and mentoring teachers. The officer will also be responsible for organizing training in psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support and life skills, determining resource needs for effective teaching, and ensuring quality monitoring of educational activities. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Education PDM or Area Manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least two years of experience in the field of education, with professional experience as a Project Officer or Team Leader in humanitarian contexts. A proven track record of working with local partners, knowledge of national and international education standards, and experience in complex environments are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational skills, report writing capabilities, and proficiency in MS Office applications. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of French is considered an asset.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Education, particularly in Education in Emergencies or Psychology, is required for this position. Candidates should have experience in developing training packages related to education and delivering training of trainers (ToT).
Experience: The position requires at least two years of relevant experience in the education sector, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts. Experience working with rural communities and knowledge of local languages is advantageous. Candidates should also have a background in education and familiarity with the crisis context in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and communities.
