Job Overview: The position of coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator for the Regional Observatory of AI in Education is crucial for supporting the implementation of a regional initiative aimed at transforming educational responses to urgent challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. The observatory connects 33 Ministries of Education, generating contextualized evidence, strengthening the capacities of educators and decision-makers, and assisting countries in developing ethical, inclusive, and data-driven responses. The role involves coordinating the work of UNESCO education specialists responsible for various components of the observatory, including evidence production, capacity building, and organizing events that foster cooperation and knowledge exchange among stakeholders. The consultant will play a key role in ensuring that the observatory meets its objectives and serves as a reference platform for AI in education in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the technical implementation of the observatory by executing planned activities, preparing technical inputs for surveys, reports, and analytical documents, and systematizing relevant information and evidence about AI in education in the region.
Managing operational aspects by tracking project activities and deliverables, organizing logistics for events and meetings, and coordinating operational matters with partners and stakeholders.
Facilitating communication and coordination with education ministries, technical partners, and other actors, and preparing inputs for regional dialogue meetings.
Producing and disseminating knowledge by creating communication products and summaries, and supporting the dissemination of results and activities of the observatory.
Mobilizing resources by identifying relevant funding sources, including international cooperation funds, foundations, and private sector mechanisms, and assisting in the preparation of presentation materials for donors and strategic partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in higher education (minimum master's level) in social sciences (education, sociology, political science, economics, or similar), engineering, technology, data science, social innovation, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have advanced competencies in productivity tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and be proficient in digital collaboration and information management platforms.
Educational Background: A minimum of a master's degree in a relevant field such as education, social sciences, engineering, technology, or data science is required. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively contribute to the observatory's objectives.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on educational technology and AI, with preferably one year of international experience. Proven experience in educational policy analysis, data usage, and project implementation is essential for this role.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written Spanish and English is mandatory. Understanding Portuguese is considered a positive asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is initially set for a duration of 11 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and resource availability. The position is open to external candidates and may be partially remote, although candidates with residency in Chile are preferred due to the expectation of being present in the UNESCO Santiago office at least three times a week.
