Job Overview: The Partnerships and Outreach Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UNDP Indonesia's initiatives aimed at reducing marine plastic litter and improving waste management practices. This position involves engaging with various stakeholders, including government ministries, NGOs, and the private sector, to foster collaboration and enhance the effectiveness of marine debris reduction efforts. The associate will be responsible for coordinating outreach initiatives, facilitating policy dialogues, and developing communication materials that promote awareness and education on marine debris issues. The role requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and a commitment to advancing UNDP's mission of sustainable development in Indonesia.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Supporting stakeholder engagement and multi-sector coordination by mapping stakeholders and planning engagement strategies aligned with the National Action Plan on Marine Debris Management.
Facilitating coordination among ministries, NGOs, private sector entities, and development partners to enhance collaboration on marine debris reduction initiatives.
Organizing multi-stakeholder policy dialogues and forums to strengthen partnerships and align initiatives.
Developing outreach materials such as policy briefs and fact sheets tailored to various audiences, ensuring timely dissemination of information.
Supporting public awareness campaigns and outreach strategies to promote marine debris reduction and improved waste management practices.
Maintaining an updated database of strategic partners and documenting partnership contributions to project implementation.
Ensuring that all activities respect human rights and promote gender equality, with a focus on inclusivity and diversity in all implementations.
Collaborating closely with the National Project Manager and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of outreach initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education, with a preference for those holding a university degree in fields such as Communication, International Relations, Public Policy, or Environmental Science. Relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, outreach, communication, or partnership coordination is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency in office software and database management systems. Additionally, knowledge of environmental issues, particularly marine debris and waste management, is highly desirable, along with experience in organizing multi-stakeholder dialogues and project implementation.
Educational Background: While secondary education is required, candidates with a university degree in relevant fields will be given preference. The educational background should ideally include studies related to communication, international relations, public policy, or environmental science, which will provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of stakeholder engagement and outreach in the context of marine debris management.
Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required for candidates with secondary education, while those with a bachelor's degree should have at least 3 years of experience. This experience should be in areas such as stakeholder engagement, outreach, communication, public campaigns, or partnership coordination. Candidates should also have demonstrated experience in project implementation related to environmental issues or waste management, as well as experience working with UNDP or other international organizations.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is strong communication skills in these two languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and disseminate information.
