The job is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH), which was established to provide support to various entities including the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces. UNSOH is also tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). Job Overview:
The Procurement Assistant, G-5 position is a temporary role that involves providing procurement, logistical, and administrative support to a team of Procurement Officers. The incumbent will be responsible for managing purchasing requests, monitoring requisitions, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. The role requires the production of tender documents and the preparation of purchase orders and contracts. The Procurement Assistant will also maintain databases, track contractual agreements, and assist in complex purchasing operations. This position is crucial for ensuring that the procurement processes are efficient and effective, contributing to the overall mission of the United Nations in Haiti.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Procurement Assistant will perform a variety of functions including: providing procurement support to Procurement Officers, reviewing and prioritizing purchasing requests, monitoring requisition statuses, maintaining supplier contact for timely deliveries, producing tender documents, preparing abstracts of offers, finalizing purchase orders, assisting in complex purchasing operations, maintaining internal databases, researching supply sources, drafting correspondence, and performing other assigned duties. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Professional certification in supply chain management, such as Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply certification (CIPS Level 4) or an equivalent, is desirable. Knowledge of procurement policies and financial regulations is essential, along with the ability to apply good judgment in various contexts. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, planning and organizing skills, and client orientation in their work.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional qualifications such as professional certifications in supply chain management are highly desirable and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, administrative services, or a related area is required. This experience can be reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in a procurement office environment and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or e-tendering systems like Ariba is desirable. Candidates should also have experience in data sourcing, cleaning, and preparing metrics in procurement and supply chain management.

Languages:
English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Spanish is considered desirable, also at UN Level II proficiency. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will be beneficial for interacting with diverse stakeholders.

This is a temporary position expected to last until June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is subject to local recruitment, meaning candidates must be located within commuting distance of Santo Domingo.
