Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Strategic Planning, Programme Management, Evaluation and Change Service (SPECS) of the United Nations. The intern will report directly to the Internal Communications Officer and will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing internal communications within the organization. This role is crucial for ensuring that information is effectively disseminated among staff members, thereby fostering a well-informed and engaged workforce. The intern will be involved in drafting and compiling various communication products tailored for different target audiences, which may include newsletters, presentations, brochures, and infographics. Additionally, the intern will assist in managing content for the Intranet and Knowledge Hub, ensuring that staff can easily access and contribute to internal communications. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, contributing to the UN's mission while developing valuable skills in communication and media.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: drafting and compiling a range of information communications products for target audiences, such as all staff messages, newsletters, presentations, brochures, and infographics. The intern will also draft and edit news and content for the Intranet and Knowledge Hub, which includes compiling and publishing content for the OHCHR Weekly Update. Furthermore, the intern will assist in identifying and developing multimedia content for publishing on OHCHR’s intranet and other channels, including the production and editing of videos and animations. The intern will support the clearance, production, and distribution of information materials and conduct photo and graphic research. Collaboration with OHCHR colleagues will be essential to identify and propose information opportunities, ensuring coordinated and professional communication throughout the organization. The intern will respond to various inquiries and information requests internally and prepare related correspondence. Additionally, the intern will help organize meetings and events, creating and delivering communication plans in support of these events. The role also involves contributing to the collection and analysis of data, identifying trends or patterns, and providing draft insights through data visualization methods for effective planning and reporting. Other related tasks may be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree, equivalent, or higher; (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent). While previous work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to Media and Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, Audio-visual design and production, or similar is considered advantageous. Good drafting skills in English are essential for this position, and proficiency in Sharepoint Online, graphic design, and video editing will be beneficial.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes either being enrolled in or having completed a second university degree or being in the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent). The ideal candidate should have a background in fields related to Media and Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or Audio-visual design and production, which will provide a solid foundation for the tasks involved in this role.

Experience:
This internship does not require previous work experience, making it an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in the field of internal communications within an international organization. However, any relevant coursework or projects related to media, communications, or design will be viewed favorably.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. Fluency in spoken and written English is a mandatory requirement for this internship.
