Job Overview:
The Writer/Editor II position is a critical role within the CRS Content & Editorial Studio, focusing on providing high-quality proofreading, copyediting, and general editorial support. This position is designed for a generalist editor who will enhance the clarity, accuracy, consistency, and readiness of various content types produced across the division. The Writer/Editor II will work on both technical and programmatic materials, as well as marketing and fundraising communications, ensuring that all content adheres to established editorial standards and workflows. The role requires collaboration with writers, editors, and cross-functional partners to meet deadlines and maintain quality expectations. The Writer/Editor II will also contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in writing and editing practices, providing guidance on effective communication and the use of AI tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Writer/Editor II will be responsible for applying CRS editorial standards, house style, and brand voice to all communications and content while preserving the authorial intent. Key responsibilities include ensuring consistent formatting and citation standards across various documents, proofreading content such as reports, technical documents, and digital content, and editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, clarity, tone, and internal consistency. The role also involves identifying errors and ambiguities, supporting proposal and report readiness through copyediting, and producing concise summaries to enhance usability for donor or leadership audiences. The Writer/Editor II will collaborate with colleagues to meet quality expectations, share editorial best practices, and utilize project management systems like Asana to manage projects effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in writing, journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in feature and analytical writing and editing is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience in researching, writing, and proofreading or copyediting, with a strong command of grammar and editorial best practices, including familiarity with Associated Press style. Writing samples must be provided as part of the application process.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in writing, journalism, communications, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered in lieu of a formal degree. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the nuances of effective communication and editorial standards necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in writing and editing, particularly in feature and analytical contexts. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in proofreading and copyediting, showcasing their ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Experience working within structured editorial workflows or content production teams is also preferred.

Languages:
