Job Overview:
The Social Protection Technical Officer will play a crucial role within the Universal Social Protection Department (SOCPRO) of the ILO, specifically in the Public Finance, Actuarial and Statistics Unit (SOC/PFACTS). This position is designed to support the development of internationally comparable social protection statistics and indicators, focusing on health protection and gender-disaggregated data. The officer will be involved in various activities, including statistical research, data collection, and analysis, with an emphasis on enhancing the effectiveness of social protection systems. The role requires collaboration with member states to provide technical advice for the formulation and implementation of national policies related to social protection. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Specialist on Social Protection Statistics and will contribute to the ILO's mission of promoting social protection for all.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Protection Technical Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Providing technical support to the SOC/PFACTS Unit in developing social protection statistics and indicators, particularly in health protection.
  • Contributing to the improvement and application of the ILO Social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Inquiry (SSI) and assisting in data compilation and SDG monitoring.
  • Supporting the enhancement of the World Social Protection Database and data visualization efforts.
  • Assisting countries in strengthening their national social protection statistical systems through capacity-building activities and technical assistance.
  • Coordinating meetings and training sessions related to social protection statistics.
  • Supporting data analysis for national statistical bulletins and ensuring methodological consistency in data collection.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to disseminate knowledge on social protection for informal economy workers.
  • Providing technical input for the development of policy briefs, reports, and other knowledge products.
  • Engaging in the design, implementation, and evaluation of development cooperation projects related to social protection. 1
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in economics, development studies, public policy, social sciences, international studies, statistics, or a relevant field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to conduct rigorous research, and proficiency in data collection and management methods. Educational Background:
The position requires a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, public policy, social sciences, international studies, or statistics. Excellent command of one working language of the ILO (English, French, or Spanish) is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of another language, one of which must be English. Proficiency in multiple languages is advantageous for effective communication in a multicultural environment.
