Job Overview:
The Economic Recovery Assistant position is integral to the Danish Refugee Council's mission, focusing on providing operational and administrative support for Economic Recovery (Livelihoods) activities. This role involves working closely with the Economic Recovery Team Leader to implement various livelihood initiatives, including counseling, referrals, and beneficiary engagement. The assistant will be responsible for supporting the rollout of livelihood counseling forms, conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, and coordinating day-to-day activities such as job fairs and vocational training. The position is available in three specific locations: Irbid, Mafraq, and East Amman, and the individual will report directly to the Economic Recovery Team Leader. The role emphasizes the importance of maintaining professional relationships with beneficiaries and community members while ensuring that DRC's Code of Conduct and Accountability principles are upheld during all interactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economic Recovery Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Counseling and Training Support: Assisting the Economic Recovery Officer in implementing livelihood counseling forms, collecting data from beneficiaries, and conducting initial intake sessions. The assistant will help organize job fairs, vocational training, and skills training, ensuring accurate and timely updates to beneficiary information in DRC’s database.
  • Coordination and Referral Support: Aiding the Team Leader in identifying job opportunities and relevant services for referrals, documenting referrals made to and from the community center, and maintaining communication with service providers regarding referral statuses.
  • Relationship Building and Communication: Maintaining contact lists of service providers and stakeholders, coordinating with partners and employers, and ensuring respectful communication with beneficiaries.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Collecting data from beneficiaries, relaying feedback to the officer or MEAL focal point, and supporting the MEAL team in organizing feedback sessions.
  • Other Duties: Providing logistical and administrative support for planning activities, coordinating with other teams for protection mainstreaming, and undertaking additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a diploma degree or higher in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, or business. Additionally, a minimum of two years of experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations, particularly in livelihoods or economic recovery, is required. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and basic data collection skills are essential. Candidates should also be familiar with the local context, including socio-economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities, and demonstrate a commitment to serving individuals with respect and understanding.

Educational Background:
The position requires a diploma degree or higher in a relevant area, such as economics, development studies, or business. This educational background is crucial for understanding the economic recovery processes and the challenges faced by displaced individuals in Jordan.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience working with non-governmental organizations or community-based organizations. Experience in livelihoods, economic recovery, or related fields is preferred, as it equips the candidate with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support the Economic Recovery Team Leader and beneficiaries.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, while good proficiency in English is also required. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders, as well as for documentation and reporting purposes.
