Job Overview: The consultancy role focuses on supporting and strengthening knowledge management systems and products for the Child Protection section of UNICEF China, as well as other sectors within the office. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining existing knowledge management systems, producing key deliverables, and ensuring effective documentation and dissemination of evidence. This role is crucial for enhancing the Child Protection Programme's ability to protect children from violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect, and to inform policy reforms through organized evidence and data. The consultant will also contribute to the review process of China’s report to the CRC Committee, which involves compiling and presenting data and evidence for pre-session discussions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake various responsibilities, including:
Light maintenance of the Child Protection shared drive and knowledge management repository.
Development of a policy brief on safe schools, outlining effective strategies and recommendations for China.
Creation of a knowledge management product focused on violence against children (VAC) data or interventions.
Production of three evidence snapshots, approximately 250 words each.
Development of a knowledge management product related to the office’s work on artificial intelligence (AI).
Creation of a knowledge management product evaluating the Integrated Child Protection Model (ICPM).
Development of three additional knowledge management products on topics to be defined with the supervisor, likely including gender-based violence (GBV), sexual violence, disability, and mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS).
Creation of four knowledge management products addressing climate issues and South-South and triangular cooperation (SSTC).
Development of a shared drive and tracking tool on China and SSTC. 1
Compilation of evidence and data for the CRC reporting process and development of a summary report of up to 30,000 words.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and strategic planning skills, excellent communication and training abilities, and experience with knowledge management systems and tools, such as databases and document management systems. Familiarity with child protection issues and best practices is essential, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an international and multicultural environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is also required.
Educational Background: A master’s degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Social Science, Social Development Studies, Humanities, or a related discipline is required for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in knowledge management, preferably within the child protection sector. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of knowledge management practices and their application in real-world scenarios, particularly in relation to child welfare and protection.
Languages: Strong writing skills in English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
