Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst position at UN Women involves contributing to the effective management of programs related to counter-terrorism and women's empowerment. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN partners, government officials, and civil society, to ensure successful implementation of UN Women’s mandate in the thematic area of Women, Peace, and Security. The Programme Analyst will provide inputs for design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and evaluation, and will support the delivery of UN Women’s commitments under the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. This position is crucial for advancing women's agency and participation in policymaking processes related to counter-terrorism, ensuring that women's needs and experiences are integrated into prevention and recovery efforts. The Programme Analyst will also engage in advocacy and policy dialogue to promote gender-sensitive approaches to counter-terrorism and violent extremism.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support Global Policy Dialogue and Advocacy: Assist in the work of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Compact Working Group on Gender Sensitive Approaches, coordinate the implementation of the annual work plan, and expand the knowledge base on gender-responsive approaches to counter-terrorism.
  • Provide Programme and Coordination Support: Implement the UN Women Counter-Terrorism Strategic Framework, provide technical support to regional and country offices, and assist in monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Support Partnerships and Triangular Cooperation: Facilitate civil society engagement in policy platforms related to violent extremism, provide inputs to national partners, and support knowledge-sharing efforts across regions.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate good knowledge of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, security sector development, and governance, as well as strong skills in programme formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification would be beneficial.

Experience:
At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in the UN Counter-Terrorism agenda and working at the global level is desirable, as is experience in coordinating with government agencies and donors.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable and would enhance a candidate's profile.
