Job Overview:
The Online UN Volunteer position is designed for individuals who are passionate about gender equality and social inclusion, particularly in the context of ending child marriage in South Sudan. The volunteer will be part of a dynamic team and will play a crucial role in designing and implementing a digital campaign aimed at raising awareness among young people about the issues surrounding child marriage. This role involves developing a comprehensive digital campaign strategy, creating high-quality digital content, and engaging with community leaders to foster grassroots awareness. The volunteer will also provide technical support and training to implementing partners, ensuring that all messaging is gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate. The overall goal is to inspire and deliver high-impact results that align with national priorities for gender equality and social inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Developing a comprehensive digital campaign strategy focused on ending child marriage, including audience segmentation and communication channels.
  • Creating a content calendar with at least two social media posts per week.
  • Producing high-quality digital content such as graphics, infographics, short videos, and posters for both online and offline use.
  • Designing innovative, low-cost campaign materials, including games, songs, jingles, and branded items.
  • Developing a 'Community Leaders’ Change-makers Toolkit' with interactive tools and awareness materials for grassroots engagement.
  • Crafting storyboards for human impact stories based on gender-based violence response cases.
  • Providing technical guidance to implementing partners on digital campaigning and conducting online training sessions.
  • Ensuring that all outputs are gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate, integrating youth engagement and social norms change approaches.

Required Qualifications:

They should have experience in content creation, including graphic design and video production. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an understanding of gender issues, particularly in the context of child marriage and reproductive health. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives will be an advantage.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, marketing, public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in digital marketing or campaign management will also be considered. Knowledge of gender studies or international development is a plus.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in digital campaigning, social media management, or related fields. Experience working with NGOs or international organizations, particularly in the area of gender equality or reproductive health, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges faced by young people in South Sudan, especially regarding child marriage, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be developed in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan is a plus, as it can enhance community engagement and outreach efforts.
