Job Overview: The student assistant position in the Office of the Secretary General offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in a global humanitarian organization. The role involves supporting the Secretary General and the governance of DRC by assisting with various administrative and logistical tasks. The student assistant will engage in planning and following up on meetings and missions, handling document legalization, and coordinating communication efforts. Duties and Responsibilities: The student assistant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Supporting the planning and follow-up of meetings and missions involving the Secretary General.
Handling document legalization processes, including notarization and apostilles, and coordinating with embassies and translation services.
Assisting in the planning and execution of Executive Management Team meetings, which includes agenda coordination, taking minutes, and following up on decisions and action points.
Supporting internal and external communication efforts.
Providing logistical support for meetings and events, such as receptions and internal seminars.
Assisting with other ad hoc and administrative tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the student assistant position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Enrollment in a university program during the period of employment with DRC.
Confirmation of the necessary permits to work and live in Denmark.
Full professional proficiency in both Danish and English, with basic knowledge of French or Spanish being desirable.
Ability to navigate a challenging environment and manage complex tasks and sensitive information effectively.
Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated interest in international affairs and humanitarian assistance.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Team player with excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint is an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates applying for the student assistant position should be enrolled in a university program, preferably in fields related to social sciences, political sciences, law, communication, or international affairs. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the operations of the Danish Refugee Council.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in administrative roles, international relations, or humanitarian work will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Languages: The position requires full professional proficiency in Danish and English. Additionally, having a basic knowledge of French or Spanish is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: The student assistant position is a permanent role, contingent upon the candidate's enrollment in a study program. The working hours are set at 15 hours per week, ideally distributed over 2-3 working days within normal office hours from 8:00 to 17:0
The workplace is located at the Danish Refugee Council’s headquarters in Copenhagen. The start date for this position is early June 2026, and the salary and conditions will align with the agreement between DRC and HK. This is a national position, and local terms and conditions will apply.
