Job Overview:
The International UNV- Communications Expert will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for UNFPA’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programs funded by KOICA and the EU in Papua New Guinea. This position requires a creative and strategic thinker who can effectively communicate UNFPA's mission and achievements through various media channels. The expert will focus on digital communication, advocacy materials, and visual storytelling to enhance the visibility of UNFPA's initiatives. The role involves producing engaging content, managing social media platforms, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that the communications strategy aligns with organizational goals and effectively reaches target audiences. The expert will also be responsible for capturing high-quality multimedia content that showcases the impact of UNFPA's work in the field, particularly in addressing GBV and promoting reproductive health.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the International UNV- Communications Expert include: assisting in the development and implementation of the communications strategy for UNFPA PNG GBV funded programs; focusing on digital communication and production of advocacy materials; creating visually engaging documents, newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, flyers, invitations, posters, and infographics; conceptualizing and producing creative advocacy designs; drafting and supporting the design process for reports and presentations; designing event invitations; generating innovative ideas for print and web presentations; providing graphic and technical solutions for new media platforms; maintaining social media platforms and country office websites; engaging with traditional and other media; developing donor communication materials; capturing high-quality photo and video coverage of events; creating diverse materials for websites and television; establishing a systematic catalog of consent forms; conducting thematic interviews; contributing to joint communications initiatives; and dedicating time for capacity development through coaching and mentoring.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in communications, public relations, or a related field. They should have experience in developing and implementing communications strategies, particularly in the context of international development or humanitarian work. Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia production is essential, along with excellent writing and editing skills. Familiarity with social media management and digital communication tools is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to UNFPA's mission and values, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills are also necessary to effectively communicate complex issues related to reproductive health and gender-based violence.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role. Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within the context of international development or humanitarian assistance. Proven track record in producing high-quality multimedia content and managing communications campaigns is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNFPA. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Papua New Guinea would be an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local communities and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.

This position is classified as a hardship duty station, and candidates should be prepared to live and work in a challenging environment. The role is full-time and may involve travel within Papua New Guinea. The contract duration and specific compensation details will be provided upon selection.
