Job Overview:
The position of Professional Photographer at UNFPA Egypt involves capturing high-quality images that document the organization's diverse field activities and programmatic success stories. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Communications Specialist and will be responsible for creating visual assets that are integral to UNFPA's official communications portfolio. This role requires a strong background in visual storytelling, particularly within the development sector, and the ability to produce compelling imagery that reflects UNFPA's mission and impact. The consultant will also be expected to film and edit videos as needed, contributing to a comprehensive visual narrative of UNFPA's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Professional Photographer will have several key responsibilities, including: capturing high-resolution images of UNFPA’s various program activities across Egypt; providing detailed captions for each photograph, including location, names of individuals in portraits, and relevant activity information; delivering high-quality photographs from all assigned activities, with copyright retained by UNFPA Egypt; and upon request, filming and editing videos to complement the photographic documentation. The consultant will also be expected to submit deliverables within two days of each activity, including photo albums and final edited videos, ensuring timely and effective communication of UNFPA's work.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least five years of progressive experience as a professional photographer, with a demonstrated history of working with development-related agencies and projects. A degree or diploma in photojournalism is advantageous, as is previous experience with UNFPA Egypt or other UN and international agencies. The consultant must also be flexible, able to work collaboratively with diverse communities, and possess a high-resolution digital camera and equipment, which is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Educational Background:
While a specific educational background is not strictly defined, possession of a degree or diploma in photojournalism or a related field is considered an asset. This educational background should ideally provide the consultant with the skills necessary for high-quality visual storytelling and technical proficiency in photography.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressive experience in professional photography, particularly in contexts related to development and humanitarian work. Candidates should demonstrate a strong portfolio of work that showcases their ability to capture impactful images that tell a story and convey the essence of the projects they document.

Languages:

All materials produced during the consultancy will remain the property of UNFPA, and confidentiality regarding project information is paramount.
