Job Overview:
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership Adviser and the Resource Mobilization and Partnership Analyst at the UNFPA Regional Office for Arab States in Cairo, Egypt. The primary focus of this internship is to support the branch team in resource mobilization and strategic partnership efforts. The intern will engage in a structured work plan that outlines specific achievements and learning opportunities throughout the internship duration. Regular progress meetings will be held to foster a supportive environment that enhances the intern's skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA's mandate, resource mobilization, and partnerships. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to UNFPA's mission while gaining valuable experience in the field of international development and humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting research and analysis on funding trends, donor priorities, and the overall funding landscape. This includes preparing donor briefs that highlight areas of cooperation and identifying opportunities for engagement with both traditional and emerging donors, as well as UN inter-agency joint programmes and international financial institutions. The intern will draft concept notes and project proposals, coordinating negotiations over technical and financial requirements to facilitate project opportunities that align with humanitarian priorities in the region. Additionally, the intern will support the development of specialized humanitarian donor proposals and coordinate submissions to various humanitarian donors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and contractual requirements. The intern will also review and co-draft reports for humanitarian projects in collaboration with relevant organizational units, assist country offices with capacity development in proposal writing, and support the organization of events, training workshops, and webinars for country offices and partners.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme, be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme, have recently graduated with a university degree, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme. Additionally, candidates should have some experience working with development agencies, including volunteer work, and possess strong analytical and writing skills. Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work harmoniously with diverse staff members are essential qualities for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme or in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme. Alternatively, recent graduates who have completed their degree within the last year are also eligible to apply. Those enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme that includes the internship as part of their curriculum are also welcome to apply.

Experience:
The position requires some experience in working with development agencies, which can include volunteer work or internships. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to development initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate and collaborate in a multicultural environment.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns do not receive a salary or any form of remuneration from UNFPA. Interns must cover their living expenses, accommodation, travel, and other requirements. However, a stipend may be provided to help cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by an institution or programme. Interns are required to have medical insurance for the duration of the internship, and proof of insurance must be submitted before the internship begins.
