Job Overview: The Director Grant Finance and Compliance will report directly to the VP Finance & IT and will be responsible for providing both strategic and operational financial leadership for all programs and projects within Save the Children Canada (SCC). This role is crucial in ensuring robust financial planning, budgeting, cost recovery, grant compliance, and comprehensive analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and reporting across all revenue and expense streams. The Director will collaborate closely with other departments and senior management to promote financial sustainability, transparency, and accountability, thereby supporting effective program delivery. The position requires a proactive approach to financial management, ensuring that all financial activities align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director's responsibilities include serving as the primary finance partner to Program Leadership, leading program-level financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis. They will oversee the development, review, and approval of program and project budgets, monitor budget performance, and provide timely analysis and recommendations. The Director will ensure compliance with donor and regulatory financial requirements, review financial sections of funding proposals, and oversee financial reporting to donors. Additionally, they will design and implement cost recovery methodologies, produce regular financial reports for senior management, and lead a team, providing strategic direction and performance management. The role also involves ensuring adherence to organizational values and policies, fostering a respectful workplace, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive management experience. Experience in International Development, NGOs, or the not-for-profit sector is essential, as is proven experience managing donor-funded projects. Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and grant compliance is required, along with advanced proficiency in Excel and financial management systems. Familiarity with time allocation systems and experience in a unionized environment are preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to build strong relationships across diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A relevant post-secondary education is required, which may include degrees in finance, accounting, business administration, or related fields. Equivalent experience in financial management within the non-profit sector may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive management experience, particularly in financial leadership roles within the International Development or NGO sectors. Candidates should have a strong track record of managing donor-funded projects and experience with financial compliance and reporting.
Languages: While English is mandatory, proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: This position offers a salary range of CAD 118,530.13 to CAD 142,235.71, depending on skills and experience.
