Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Agustine Project, which focuses on preventing violence through education in El Salvador. This project aims to transform lives and improve conditions in communities to reduce social vulnerability to violence and crime. The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing editorial design and professional layout for documents produced under Component 1 of the Agustine Project. This includes ensuring technical quality, visual coherence, and institutional identity in all produced materials. The consultant will work closely with UNESCO and UNICEF to enhance student participation and strengthen civic competencies among students, thereby contributing to a safer educational environment. The position requires a strong understanding of educational communication and the ability to create visually appealing and accessible educational materials that align with institutional standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be supervised by the UNESCO national officer in El Salvador and will coordinate with the Development Student Management of the Ministry of Education. Key responsibilities include analyzing existing graphic lines and communication instruments to ensure alignment with the Communication Plan and Visibility Guide, designing a specific editorial graphic line for technical publications, developing editable master templates for various types of publications, and professionally laying out prioritized documents. The consultant will also create complementary graphic elements, prepare final arts for printing and digital dissemination, and incorporate feedback to ensure compliance with visibility and quality standards. The consultant is expected to deliver at least four documents within the four-month contract period, with payment based on agreed deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Visual Communication, or related fields. Solid knowledge in editorial design and professional layout, advanced typography, graphic production, and institutional communication is essential. Certifications in Adobe InDesign (advanced level), Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop are required, along with experience in preparing files for print and designing for digital publications. A background in communication for development or design applied to educational and social projects is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate advanced skills in editorial design principles, including composition, hierarchy, and visual organization of extensive content, as well as the ability to create coherent editorial graphic lines adaptable to various technical publications.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Visual Communication, or related fields is mandatory. A postgraduate degree (master's or doctorate) related to the required experience is desirable. Candidates should have solid knowledge in editorial design and professional layout, advanced typography, graphic production processes, and institutional communication, as well as certifications in relevant software and design principles.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience in institutional editorial design is required, with proven experience in laying out technical reports, manuals, or educational publications. Experience working with international organizations, cooperation, or the public sector is desirable. Candidates should have advanced proficiency in editorial design software and a strong portfolio demonstrating their work in similar projects.

Languages:
Native Spanish is required, and intermediate English proficiency is necessary. Excellent English language skills are desirable, particularly for candidates with advanced qualifications.

The consultancy is remote and is expected to last for four months, from May to July 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on resource availability and performance evaluation. The consultant will be paid based on specific deliverables outlined in the work plan agreed upon with project coordination.
