Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are integral to the auditing functions of the United Nations Board of Auditors. These duties include:
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks related to audits of the United Nations, its Funds, and Programmes, which may involve data collection and analysis.
  • Attending conferences and meetings, taking notes, and summarizing discussions to provide insights for the Board's activities.
  • Assisting in the organization of the annual sessions of the Board of Auditors, which includes logistical planning and coordination.
  • Conducting research tasks that support the Board's auditing efforts, which may involve reviewing financial documents and gathering relevant data.
  • Drafting documents as needed, which could include reports, summaries, and presentations that communicate the findings of the audits.
  • Compiling statistics and preparing tables to present data in a clear and concise manner, aiding in the Board's decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements to be considered for the internship: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). The ideal candidate will be pursuing studies in fields closely related to auditing and financial management, such as Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Auditing, and Statistics. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is considered a beneficial asset for applicants. It is important to note that while professional work experience is not required for this internship, a relevant field of study is mandatory.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme.
