Job Overview: As the Director for Climate Action, Peace and Democracy, you will play a pivotal role in leading one of NORCAP's most innovative portfolios. This position requires strategic leadership, a focus on program quality, and the ability to influence policy effectively. You will guide a dedicated team, shape partnerships, and manage a portfolio aimed at addressing climate-related risks, promoting peaceful societies, and upholding democratic values. Your responsibilities will include working closely with senior counterparts within NORCAP and global partners to implement evidence-based solutions while ensuring that resources and personnel are utilized effectively to achieve meaningful impact. The role is based in Oslo and involves approximately 10% travel, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and strategic engagement with various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing the section's strategy, ensuring alignment with NORCAP's overall direction, and translating strategic priorities into actionable plans. You will provide inclusive leadership to section staff, focusing on goal-setting, performance management, mentoring, and fostering a positive team culture. Additionally, you will oversee program and portfolio management across climate action, peace, democracy, and human rights, ensuring compliance and results-based management. Your duties will also include driving fundraising efforts and managing donor relations to meet annual budget targets, as well as strengthening collaboration across NORCAP and NRC to facilitate joint programming and shared solutions. You will engage strategically with partners and stakeholders to advocate for improved aid practices and enhance NORCAP's visibility and impact. Furthermore, you will manage budgets and resources responsibly to ensure cost-efficient delivery and compliance with key metrics and targets.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess higher education in a relevant field, along with a minimum of five years of senior leadership experience in areas related to climate action, peace, democracy, or other international fields. A proven track record in program and project management, organizational development, and strategic planning is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate successful fundraising experience, strong donor relations, and the ability to build effective external partnerships. Experience in managing resources, budgets, and portfolios to achieve measurable outcomes is also required. Strong communication skills in both English and Norwegian are mandatory, while proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
