Job Overview:
The Global Reward Lead position at NRC is a strategic and hands-on role that focuses on shaping and delivering the organization's global Compensation & Benefits strategy. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic pooled reward team, providing expert support and guidance to NRC Country Offices, NORCAP, and P&O Operations. This role involves overseeing resource allocation based on organizational priorities, managing a regional portfolio, and serving as the thematic lead on key projects. The position has a significant operational focus (70%) while also emphasizing strategic leadership (30%). The Global Reward Lead will have the opportunity to influence reward practices across a global humanitarian organization, making a meaningful impact on the lives of those served by NRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Global Reward Lead include:
  • Line management of direct reports, overseeing performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, staff development, and ensuring effective work planning and resource allocation based on organizational priorities.
  • Ensuring quality and effective support provided by the Reward pooled team, standardizing P&O Reward approaches within the assigned portfolio, and coordinating with other teams to align on minimum standards and best practices.
  • Leading the implementation of reward systems, tools, and procedures, including pay scale development and benefits determination across all NRC operations.
  • Providing technical guidance on reward and compensation topics across the Employee Lifecycle for the assigned portfolio.
  • Preparing business cases and briefing documents for NRC’s senior management decision-making on reward-related matters.
  • Building capacity within Reward by training and mentoring P&O Managers and enhancing management capability.
  • Leading reward policy review and development, ensuring stakeholder engagement and smooth adoption of new procedures.
  • Developing and supporting compliance mechanisms to ensure adherence to P&O policies and national labor laws related to Reward topics.
  • Maintaining relationships with external partners and representing the organization in reward forums. 1
  • Acting as the first escalation point for complex reward cases and ensuring quality assurance in reward-related processes.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Global Reward Lead position include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a relevant specialization.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources Management, specifically in reward topics and practices, preferably within a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Proven experience in driving and implementing change initiatives.
  • Previous experience in managing teams effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of varied and complex labor laws and fundamental P&O and Employee Relations principles.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in compensation and benefits, including benchmarking and global reward management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
  • High numeracy skills with experience in basic statistical analysis.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or any other relevant specialization. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of human resources and reward management within a global context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources Management, with a specific focus on reward topics and practices. Candidates should have a proven track record of driving and implementing change, as well as experience in managing teams effectively. This level of experience is crucial for leading the reward team and influencing organizational practices.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, language skills in French, Spanish, or Arabic would be beneficial, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments and with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a temporary cover position for a period of 8 months. The duty station can be any country where NRC has an operational presence, except for Geneva and Washington DC. The contract is temporary, and travel may be required up to 20%. The salary and benefits are based on grade 10 of NRC’s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
