Job Overview: The Senior Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, premises, and assets at the GFCM headquarters. This position involves performing a variety of routine duties that contribute to the overall security and safety of the organization. The Senior Security Guard will be expected to apply safety and emergency procedures effectively, ensuring a secure environment for all personnel. The role requires close collaboration with the Executive Secretary and the Chief of Security Service, providing technical support and on-the-job learning opportunities. The Senior Security Guard will also engage with staff and visitors to exchange security-relevant information and monitor compliance with security protocols. This position is vital for maintaining a secure and safe working environment at the GFCM headquarters.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Security Guard will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: receiving personal documents and issuing building passes and parking permits; responding to routine inquiries and providing information or redirecting as appropriate; maintaining up-to-date directories and logging mail after normal business hours; leading patrols in assigned areas, including parking areas; detaining and accompanying individuals acting unlawfully to the Security Supervisor; controlling entry to FAO premises by verifying building passes; referring irregularities to the Security Assistant on duty; ensuring security measures are observed at entrances/exits; maintaining continuous surveillance against fire, water leakage, and dangerous objects; performing prescribed safety measures; receiving VIP visitors and providing appropriate security assistance; managing lost and found items; monitoring the internal alarm system and surveillance cameras; alerting emergency staff as necessary; and performing other related duties as required. The Senior Security Guard's actions will reflect on the clients served and the wider work unit, emphasizing the importance of this role in the overall security framework.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school education and have a minimum of four years of experience with a national or international police force, armed forces, a private security organization, fire brigade, or a security service of a large organization. The position requires a high level of security, confidentiality, and integrity. Additionally, candidates should have a working knowledge of English and Italian, as well as basic IT skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications and office technology equipment. Candidates must also be nationals of Italy or possess a valid visa/work permit and reside within commuting distance of the duty station at the time of application.
