The intern will work under the direct supervision of an Investigations Officer (Analyst) and will be involved in various aspects of investigative work. This includes assisting in data collection, cleaning, and analysis, as well as conducting research in internal databases and open sources. The role aims to enhance the analytical capabilities of OIGI and support ongoing investigations. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, developing technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while contributing to the mission of WFP.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
Assisting in data collection, cleaning, and collation to ensure accurate and reliable datasets for analysis.
Analyzing OIGI’s caseload and case-specific datasets to identify trends and insights that can inform investigations.
Conducting thorough research in internal databases and repositories, as well as utilizing open-source information to support investigative efforts.
Contributing to the development of analytical capabilities within OIGI, including the creation of reports and presentations based on findings.
Assisting with preliminary assessments of complaints and supporting ongoing investigations by providing necessary data and insights.
Performing any other duties as required by the Investigations Officer to facilitate the investigative process.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field such as Law, Investigations, Criminology, Social Science, or related disciplines. Additionally, candidates should have attended university courses within the past 12 months. Previous exposure to investigative settings or experience in conducting crime-related quantitative research is considered an asset. Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should possess an educational background in fields relevant to investigations and analysis, such as Law, Investigations, Criminology, or Social Science. Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university is required, or candidates should have graduated within the last six months from such a program. This educational foundation will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties associated with the internship effectively.
Experience: While no extensive prior experience is required, candidates should have some exposure to investigative settings or related fields. Experience in conducting quantitative research, particularly in crime-related contexts, is advantageous. The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently studying or have recently completed their studies, making it suitable for those at the beginning of their professional careers.
