Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Industry and Economy Division (IED) of UNEP is designed to provide valuable support in various administrative and operational tasks. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UN Coordination Officer and Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, receiving overall guidance from the UNEP IED director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director. The role is intended for individuals who are passionate about environmental issues and are looking to gain practical experience in a global organization. The intern will assist in developing and updating information and monitoring tools, which are crucial for the effective functioning of the division. Daily responsibilities may vary based on the intern's background and the specific needs of the division during the internship period. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with international environmental policies and contribute to the UNEP's mission of promoting sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating and assigning requests from the Correspondence Tracking System (CTS) team to relevant teams, supporting the drafting of correspondence-related products, and performing quality control on formatting and editing. The intern will also assist in organizing meetings and events, including the yearly IED retreat, and will support the compilation of inputs into briefing notes, ensuring they are formatted and edited according to established protocols. Additionally, the intern will help develop and finalize PowerPoint presentations for the division's Front Office, manage and update existing databases and tracking tools, including the UNEA Resolutions IED tracking tool, and regularly update the UNEP IED website/intranet. The intern will act as a focal point for organizing briefing sessions for IED interns and will serve as a liaison between IED interns and senior management through the Front Office.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Ideal candidates will be final year undergraduate or master's degree students in business administration, communications, international relations, environmental affairs, or development studies. Proof of enrollment or graduation date will be required if selected for this position.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a relevant educational background, specifically in fields such as business administration, communications, international relations, environmental affairs, or development studies. The internship is open to those who are currently enrolled in a graduate program or are in their final year of undergraduate studies. A degree in a related field is essential to ensure that the intern can effectively contribute to the tasks and responsibilities outlined in the position.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. Languages:
The intern must have mother-tongue or equivalent ability in English, and ideally, a good command of French is preferred. Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for a duration of six months and is a full-time position. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents of France may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization. It is important for successful candidates to discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer. Additionally, the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
