Job Overview:
The Online UN Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the Regional Collaborative Platform in Latin America and the Caribbean (RCP LAC) by developing a short video that communicates key messages and results related to the work and impact of the RCP LAC. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant United Nations regional communications product, which will be showcased at high-level regional events and shared across various United Nations platforms. The volunteer will work closely with the Regional Development Specialist and will be responsible for content development, video production, and ensuring that the final product aligns with UN branding and communication objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing key materials such as the results report and other reference content provided by the Joint Secretariat.
  • Proposing a visual concept and approach that aligns with United Nations branding and communication objectives.
  • Preparing a storyboard or visual outline for feedback and approval.
  • Creating a compelling video of approximately 3-4 minutes in length, incorporating motion graphics, text, visual animation elements, and video clips to highlight the story and results of RCP LAC.
  • Integrating visual elements like icons, graphic elements, and custom illustrations to ensure a cohesive visual narrative.
  • Developing clear and accessible visualizations such as graphs, charts, timelines, or infographics to communicate key messages effectively.
  • Revising the video based on feedback from the team to ensure clarity, accuracy, and quality.
  • Delivering a final video suitable for screening at events and dissemination on digital platforms, as well as an adapted version for social media use.
  • Sharing editable project files and visual assets developed during the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong skills in video production and editing, with a solid understanding of visual storytelling. Familiarity with United Nations branding and communication objectives is essential. The ability to work collaboratively and creatively within a team is also important, as is the capacity to receive and incorporate feedback effectively. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values and principles of the United Nations.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, media production, graphic design, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that supports their ability to produce high-quality video content and visual materials.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in video production, including familiarity with video editing software and tools. Experience working on communications projects, particularly within the context of international organizations or development work, is highly desirable. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of communicating with diverse audiences in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This position is a volunteer role, and as such, it may not offer financial compensation. However, it provides valuable experience working with a prestigious international organization and contributes to meaningful development efforts in the region. The role may be part-time or full-time, depending on the volunteer's availability and the needs of the project.
