Job Overview: The Communications and Monitoring Assistant position at WFP involves supporting the implementation of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system that aligns with the organization's Theory of Change and Results Framework. This role is crucial in ensuring that the M&E system captures outputs, outcomes, and impact levels, including gender-sensitive and climate-resilience indicators. The assistant will contribute to mid-term and endline assessments, conduct field monitoring missions to gather qualitative feedback from beneficiaries, and utilize digital tools for real-time progress visualization. Additionally, the role includes preparing analytical reports that meet WFP's corporate frameworks and donor requirements, documenting best practices, and facilitating knowledge-sharing activities with UN partners and government institutions. The position also entails supporting the development and implementation of a Communication and Visibility Plan for the CONVERGEFOOD project, gathering content for communication materials, and assisting with media coverage and project launches.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Communications and Monitoring Assistant include:
Supporting the implementation of a robust Monitoring and Evaluation system with clear indicators aligned with WFP's Theory of Change and Results Framework.
Contributing to the preparation and rollout of mid-term and endline assessments.
Conducting regular field monitoring missions to assess implementation fidelity and gather qualitative feedback from beneficiaries.
Utilizing digital tools such as ODK/KOBO, COMET, SCOPE, and PowerBI dashboards to visualize real-time progress and inform adaptive management.
Preparing analytical reports in alignment with WFP corporate results frameworks and donor requirements.
Documenting best practices, case studies, innovations, and lessons learned across regions.
Assisting in knowledge-sharing activities with UN partners and government institutions.
Supporting the development and implementation of a Communication and Visibility Plan for the CONVERGEFOOD project.
Gathering content for high-quality communication materials, including human-interest stories, success stories, infographics, fact sheets, videos, and social media content. 1
Supporting media coverage, project launches, field missions, donor visits, and workshops. 1
Assisting with related projects across WFP’s food systems portfolio as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Communications and Monitoring Assistant position include:
Completion of secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in Development Studies, Agriculture, M&E, Knowledge Management, Communication, Social Sciences, or relevant fields.
At least 4 years of professional experience in communication, monitoring & evaluation, or knowledge management.
Experience in food systems, agriculture, value chains, SMEs, climate resilience, or related sectors.
Proficiency in collecting program data, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, and preparing field reports.
Familiarity with corporate systems and databases.
Experience in producing high-quality written and visual knowledge products and communication materials.
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Experience working in demanding operational environments.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completion of secondary school education, along with a post-secondary certificate in relevant fields such as Development Studies, Agriculture, Monitoring and Evaluation, Knowledge Management, Communication, or Social Sciences. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of the role and effectively contributing to WFP's mission.
Experience: Candidates for the Communications and Monitoring Assistant position should have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in areas related to communication, monitoring and evaluation, or knowledge management. This experience should ideally include work in food systems, agriculture, value chains, SMEs, climate resilience, or similar sectors. Additionally, candidates should have experience in collecting program data, conducting both qualitative and quantitative analyses, and preparing comprehensive field reports. Languages: Fluency in both French and English (level C) is mandatory for this position, encompassing both written and oral communication skills. Additional Notes: The position of Communications and Monitoring Assistant is offered under a Special Service Agreement (SSA) contract type, with a duration of 11 months.
