Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Analyzing the humanitarian context and adapting NRC's programs to ensure relevance to the evolving situations in Cameroon, CAR, and the Lake Chad Basin.
Prioritizing continuous improvement and innovation to maintain the highest quality of humanitarian and protection programming.
Motivating and coaching staff to create effective teams, focusing on building an empowered Country Management Group.
Promoting accountability and adherence to the highest ethical standards, including safeguarding and the Humanitarian Principles.
Leading all NRC advocacy efforts in the country and contributing to regional and global advocacy initiatives.
Developing and enforcing policies to promote diversity within the organization.
Serving as a proactive member of the Regional Management Team, fostering collaboration with other Country Offices and the Regional office.
Engaging actively with the Nigeria and Chad Country Offices to ensure holistic advocacy and programming in response to the Lake Chad Basin crisis.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Country Director position must possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Manager or Country Director role within a humanitarian or recovery context.
Proven experience working in complex and volatile environments, demonstrating the ability to navigate challenges effectively.
Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position, showcasing successful program delivery and impact.
Strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of personal leadership style and profile.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory.
A valid driver's license is required for this position.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Country Director role includes a relevant degree in humanitarian studies, international relations, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in humanitarian response, management, or leadership are highly desirable and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.
