Job Overview: The Southern Leyte Field Coordinator is tasked with the day-to-day coordination, management, advocacy, and visibility of UNFPA’s 9th Country Programme implementation in Eastern Visayas, particularly focusing on Southern Leyte. This role is crucial for supporting the effective and timely implementation, monitoring, reporting, and communication of UNFPA interventions under the Joint Programme on Accelerating the Reduction of Adolescent Pregnancy (JPARAP). The Field Coordinator will collaborate closely with various teams, including Sexual and Reproductive Health, Gender/GBV, Adolescent and Youth, and Operations teams based in Manila. The position requires a proactive approach to building partnerships with government units, NGOs, and other stakeholders to address issues such as adolescent pregnancy and maternal health effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator will be responsible for mapping and building partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders in Southern Leyte. They will help develop and review work plans addressing adolescent pregnancy, maternal deaths, and gender-based violence. The coordinator will provide technical inputs for surveys and reports related to the JPARAP and the 9th Country Programme. They will also contribute to advocacy and resource mobilization efforts, organize provincial steering committee meetings, and serve as the UNFPA Field Focal Point for various partners. Additionally, the coordinator will perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring effective coordination across the humanitarian-development continuum.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s Degree in public health, international studies, or related social science disciplines. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree in these fields with two years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have up to two years of professional experience in sexual and reproductive health or gender, with demonstrated experience in program/project management and coordination for Joint Programs. Practical experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is essential, along with proficiency in office software and web-based management systems.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Master’s Degree in public health, international studies, or other related social science disciplines. A Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields is acceptable if accompanied by two years of relevant experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health issues and the socio-political context in which the UNFPA operates.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have up to two years of professional experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health or gender. Experience in program/project management and coordination for Joint Programs is desirable. Candidates should also have practical experience in the design, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects, which is critical for the successful execution of the responsibilities associated with this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of local languages such as Tagalog, Bisaya, and/or Waray is desirable. Proficiency in these languages will facilitate effective communication with local stakeholders and enhance the coordinator's ability to engage with diverse communities in Southern Leyte.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is from April 2026 to February 2027, with the consultant expected to work from Monday to Friday on a monthly fee basis. The duty station is Southern Leyte, Maasin, with reporting to the UNFPA Country Office in Mandaluyong City. The consultant will be required to submit a monthly accomplishment report detailing target deliverables and achievements. The position involves expected travel to program sites as needed, and the consultant will receive office space, a laptop, printer, and other necessary equipment from UNFPA, along with a daily subsistence allowance for authorized travel outside the duty station.
