Job Overview: The Creative Arts Campaign Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive online creative arts campaign aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues. This position involves creating engaging content that utilizes various artistic mediums to educate and engage the target audience. The campaign will focus on consolidating and generating publicity for artwork submitted by participants in the Open Call, while also promoting self-care, art therapy, and the benefits of art for child development. The coordinator will be responsible for crafting Calls to Action that encourage public participation and support for Simuka Africa's initiatives. Additionally, the role will involve collaborating with international female artists and promoting the Empower4Her Open Calls, which aim to highlight the importance of mental health and gender equality. The coordinator will also manage the dissemination of content across Simuka Africa's social media platforms, ensuring that the organization's mission and values are effectively communicated to a global audience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive online creative arts campaign that raises awareness of mental health issues and promotes the benefits of art therapy.
Create engaging content across various artistic mediums, including articles, graphics, art, and poetry, to educate the target audience.
Manage the Open Call process, including reviewing submissions, selecting artwork for exhibition, and coordinating with artists.
Collaborate with other art institutions to enhance the reach and impact of the 34 Gallery Initiative.
Create and share short videos for Simuka Africa's YouTube channel and Instagram Reels to promote the campaign and engage with the audience.
Develop Calls to Action that encourage public participation and support for Simuka Africa's initiatives, including donation drives.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of the campaign, making adjustments as necessary to maximize impact.
Engage with the online community to foster discussions around mental health and gender equality, promoting a supportive environment for participants.
Assist with small administrative tasks that are essential to maintaining high standards within the organization. 1
Stay informed about current trends in mental health advocacy and the arts to ensure the campaign remains relevant and impactful.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in creative content creation, particularly in the arts or mental health sectors.
Strong understanding of mental health issues and the role of art in advocacy and therapy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Proficiency in using social media platforms for campaign promotion and audience engagement.
Ability to work collaboratively with artists, organizations, and community members.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A passion for empowering youth and advocating for gender equality.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Fine Arts, Communications, Psychology, or Social Work is preferred. Additional certifications or training in mental health advocacy, art therapy, or community engagement will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in creative arts, mental health advocacy, or community outreach. Experience working with marginalized communities or youth is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Zimbabwe, is a plus and will enhance communication with diverse community members.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role with the potential for future paid opportunities based on funding and organizational growth. The role is part-time, with flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the campaign and the availability of the coordinator.
