Job Overview:
The Livelihood Specialist position at WRI Indonesia is designed to provide technical and operational support in livelihood and economic analysis, research, and consultation within priority provinces. The role is crucial for managing programs and projects aligned with WRI Indonesia's strategy, particularly in enhancing community forest tenure and sustainable livelihoods. The Livelihood Specialist will be based in Banda Aceh, with responsibilities extending to priority districts in South Sumatera and Aceh. The main focus will be on conducting economic and livelihood analyses to strengthen social forestry and customary forest schemes, assisting local governments in sustainable land use governance, and supporting project management and stakeholder engagement. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including local governments, civil society, and private sectors, to develop sustainable livelihood options and strategies for communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Livelihood Specialist will have a diverse set of responsibilities, primarily divided into research and technical work (70%) and project management and communication (30%). In the research and technical domain, the specialist will provide expertise in policy, social and economic analysis, and livelihood assessments to enhance social forestry and renewable energy initiatives. This includes conducting livelihood assessments, designing community livelihood development strategies, and developing business plans for communities. The specialist will also support institutional settings, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination to accelerate livelihood development strategies. In terms of project management, the specialist will develop work plans and budgets, maintain communication with stakeholders, assist in organizing reviews and monitoring activities, and facilitate workshops and training sessions for various stakeholders. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support WRI Indonesia's programs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be legally able to work in Indonesia and possess a Master's degree in relevant fields such as economy, agrobusiness, environmental policy, or sustainable development. A minimum of five years of work experience in community facilitation, small and medium business entrepreneurship, and livelihood analysis is required. Candidates should have a strong understanding of land, environmental, or natural resource management, and experience in project management. Familiarity with geospatial and remote sensing is advantageous, as is previous experience in stakeholder mapping and capacity-building workshops. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in fields such as economy, agrobusiness, agronomy, environmental policy/law, natural resource study, sustainable development, or similar areas. Relevant fields may also include forestry, natural resource management, or small and medium business management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of livelihood development and environmental management.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressive professional experience related to land, environmental, or natural resource management, with a focus on sustainable development and program implementation. Candidates should have significant fieldwork experience and a proven track record in building capacity among civil society groups and other stakeholders. Experience in managing and supervising field teams is also beneficial, as is the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess strong communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and civil society organizations. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a fixed-term employment agreement for one year, including a three-month consultancy period before the fixed-term agreement begins. The salary will be commensurate with experience and skills, and a competitive benefits package will be offered.
