Job Overview:
The Clinical Advisor position within the IRC's Safety and Wellness department in Oakland is crucial for ensuring that newcomer populations receive the necessary psycho-social and case management support to aid their adjustment to new environments. This role involves implementing mental health screening protocols and facilitating referrals for clients experiencing emotional distress, trauma, torture, and gender-based violence to appropriate partners. The Clinical Advisor will play a key role in fostering a culture of trauma-informed care across all services provided in Oakland. The position is expected to require approximately 5 hours of work per week, with flexibility in hours based on the needs of the department. The Clinical Advisor will provide consultation and supervision to the Safety and Wellness team, ensuring that staff are equipped to address the psychosocial needs of their clients effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Advisor will be responsible for conducting group and individual supervision sessions as needed, providing consultation and training on various relevant topics, and reviewing documentation to ensure compliance with agency standards. Administrative responsibilities will also be part of the role, requiring adherence to all policies, procedures, and protocols established by the IRC. The position will involve close collaboration with the Safety and Wellness Manager and will include providing clinical supervision to MSW interns, Health and Wellness Promoters, Clinical Caseworkers, and the Program Manager. The Clinical Advisor will also be expected to contribute to the development of training materials and resources to enhance the team's capacity to serve clients effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Clinical Advisor position must possess a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field of mental health study. A California license to provide clinical mental health services is preferred, with qualifications such as LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist/Psy.D being highly desirable. Additionally, applicants should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in social services, mental health, or international development fields, including at least 2 years of experience in developing and managing programs that serve communities, particularly survivors of gender-based violence, youth at risk, or displaced populations. Experience in designing and implementing psychosocial and preventive programming is essential, along with demonstrated expertise in serving multicultural and underserved populations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a graduate degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling. This advanced education is critical for understanding the complexities of mental health issues and providing effective support to clients from diverse backgrounds. The candidate's educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in mental health principles and practices, equipping them to handle the challenges associated with the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a substantial level of experience, specifically a minimum of 4 years in relevant fields such as social services, mental health, or international development. This experience should include at least 2 years focused on developing and managing programs that cater to vulnerable populations, including survivors of gender-based violence and displaced individuals. The candidate should also have experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and programs within clinical settings, demonstrating their ability to lead and support diverse groups effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in another language relevant to current refugee populations is preferred, with languages such as Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Tigrinya, Burmese, Spanish, and Amharic being particularly valuable. This linguistic capability will enhance the Clinical Advisor's ability to communicate effectively with clients from various backgrounds and ensure that services are accessible to all.

The Clinical Advisor position is remote, with the option to work in-person as needed or desired. The compensation for this role ranges from $95,642 to $100,079, with the exact offer being determined based on factors such as the labor market, job type, internal equity, and the candidate's experience and skills.
