Job Overview:
The Communications Assistant role within UNV is pivotal in supporting the implementation of the organization's communications strategy at both regional and country levels. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring timely and relevant content delivery that enhances the visibility of UN Volunteers and the UNV brand. This position involves engaging with UN partners to mobilize volunteers and attract diverse national talent to serve as UN Volunteers. The Communications Assistant will work closely with the Communications Analyst and the Country Coordinator to produce content, identify best practices, and share inspiring volunteer stories. The role also includes managing social media, coordinating campaigns, and ensuring that communications are aligned with UNV's strategic goals. The Communications Assistant will play a crucial role in showcasing the value of volunteerism and UNV's contributions to peace and development, thereby enhancing the organization's outreach and engagement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of communications strategies and campaigns by assisting in the creation of promotional materials and organizing events that raise awareness about UNV and volunteerism.
  • Generate and adapt content for various platforms, ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences and highlights the contributions of UN Volunteers.
  • Manage UNV's social media presence by creating, scheduling, and monitoring content, as well as analyzing performance metrics to inform future strategies.
  • Contribute to joint communications and storytelling efforts by collaborating with UN partners and volunteers to draft compelling narratives that showcase the impact of volunteer work.
  • Provide operational support for communications activities, including organizing logistics for events, assisting with graphic design, and maintaining communications files and photo libraries.
  • Engage with potential partners by preparing materials that demonstrate the value of volunteerism and UNV's mission, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Communications Assistant position should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences. They should demonstrate proficiency in content creation and management across various platforms, including social media. Familiarity with graphic design tools and multimedia production is advantageous. The ideal candidate should also exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for volunteerism and development are essential.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field is required for the Communications Assistant position. Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or in a volunteer capacity is highly desirable. Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the official language of Mozambique. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, particularly for communication with international partners and stakeholders.
