Job Overview:
The Principal Banker plays a crucial role in the project development and implementation process, overseeing all aspects from origination to execution and monitoring. This position requires a deep understanding of various investment instruments and the ability to lead project teams effectively. The Principal Banker is responsible for structuring and negotiating transactions, ensuring compliance with the Bank's standards, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. The role also involves significant business development activities, including marketing efforts and the identification of viable investment opportunities. The Principal Banker is expected to mentor junior staff and contribute to their professional growth while ensuring high-quality project work and adherence to deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Structuring and Execution: Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of transactions, ensuring all legal documentation is reviewed and compliant. Manage project teams effectively, overseeing due diligence processes and ensuring timely completion of transactions.
  • Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: Take responsibility for monitoring projects, verifying the quality of reports, and managing client relationships. Address any implementation issues in collaboration with Portfolio Managers.
  • Policy Dialogue: Contribute to policy dialogue initiatives at both project and national levels, supporting efforts to secure grants and technical cooperation funds.
  • Business Development: Assist in marketing and business development to build a robust deal flow, screening project proposals, and identifying sound investments.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and mentor junior bankers, ensuring quality project work and appropriate workload distribution. Champion the Bank's values and ensure adherence to ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and utilize financial models. Candidates should have excellent stakeholder management, coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of the local language is advantageous.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree is required for this position, with a Master's degree being preferred. Candidates should have relevant professional qualifications that demonstrate expertise in finance, investment, or related fields. Experience:
Significant experience in the financial industry is required, ideally from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, or financial consulting firm. Practical experience in leading complex transactions through the full project life cycle is essential, as well as familiarity with the dynamics and trends in the Middle East and Africa.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with excellent written and oral communication skills. A good command of the local language is considered an advantage, enhancing the ability to engage with local stakeholders and clients effectively.
