Job Overview:
As a Senior Officer, Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the foundation's Modern Data Platform. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and enhancing scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions that facilitate enterprise reporting, analytics, AI, and data-driven decision-making across the organization and its affiliates. You will operate with a significant degree of independence and accountability, acting as both a hands-on technical leader and a practice lead. This role requires you to translate complex organizational and technical challenges into practical data engineering strategies and scalable platform solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, reliability, performance, governance, and long-term sustainability of the enterprise data ecosystem, not just delivering pipelines or datasets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will encompass several key areas:
  • Technology & Architecture Leadership: You will define and evolve data engineering technology roadmaps that align with business strategies and enterprise architecture. You will provide architectural leadership on complex, cross-team data initiatives, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable. You will lead evaluations of data platforms and vendors, guiding decisions on whether to build or buy solutions. Additionally, you will develop and promote data engineering standards for lakehouse architecture, ELT/ETL frameworks, data modeling, CI/CD, observability, and governance.
  • Solution Delivery & Engineering Excellence: You will execute and implement solutions using modern data platforms and practices. You will be responsible for the technical direction of large or multi-team delivery efforts, ensuring the application of modern data engineering and DevSecOps practices. You will conduct architectural and technical reviews of solution designs and delivery approaches to enhance quality and consistency.
  • Service & Portfolio Strategy: You will partner with service managers and product owners to shape data service strategies and roadmaps. You will translate complex system challenges into actionable plans aimed at improving sustainability and user experience.
  • Leadership, Influence & Collaboration: You will serve as a lead for the practice, mentoring data engineers and managing service partners. You will build strong relationships across IT, Business Operations, and programmatic teams, guiding discussions through ambiguity with clarity and sound judgment.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, typically requiring an advanced degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant data engineering experience in enterprise environments. You should have mastery-level knowledge of the data engineering field and modern data platform technology delivery, with deep experience in key domains such as lakehouse architecture, distributed data processing, cloud data warehousing, data transformation frameworks, or data governance. Proven experience in developing and implementing standards, processes, and operational plans that enhance the stability, resilience, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and performance of critical data platforms is essential. You should also have deep expertise with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Azure Data services, Databricks, Snowflake, and DBT cloud.

The candidate should have a strong foundation in data engineering principles and practices, as well as familiarity with modern data technologies and platforms.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in data engineering within enterprise environments. This experience should include leading large-scale and complex data modernization initiatives, particularly migrations from legacy data warehouses to modern cloud-based data platforms. Additionally, experience managing vendor relationships and offshore engineering work is important to ensure alignment with enterprise data standards and architecture principles.

Languages:
The position requires proficiency in English, as effective communication is crucial for collaborating with technical and non-technical audiences. While English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus, especially if it enhances communication with diverse teams or stakeholders.
