Job Overview:
As a Senior Risk Management Assistant at ADB, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, methodologies, and procedures for assessing country and sovereign risk. This position is situated within the Risk Policy and Architecture Division of the Office of Risk Management. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the structured analysis of country and sovereign risks, contributing to the ratings process, and ensuring that data and information are accurately collected and analyzed. You will also be involved in the development of risk management policies and tools, ensuring that ADB's risk management requirements are met effectively. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring and analyzing economic data, as well as collaborating with various departments to review policies from a risk perspective. Your contributions will be vital in producing monthly country ratings and maintaining comprehensive datasets that inform ADB's decision-making processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Country and Sovereign Risk Analysis: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining methods and tools for structured country and sovereign risk analysis. Support ADB's ratings process by collecting data, preparing peer group comparisons, running the sovereign rating model, and conducting ad hoc research for rating assignments. Maintain and update datasets and spreadsheet statistics, ensuring accurate summarization of information. Monitor rating actions from international agencies and document these actions monthly. Review relevant policies and guidelines, and assist in producing the monthly country ratings matrix. Respond to requests for external rating reports.
  • Policy & Architecture: Help develop and implement policies, processes, methods, and tools for identifying, measuring, and managing risk. Contribute to special projects that meet risk management requirements and review policies and proposals from other departments from a risk perspective.
  • Others: Ensure that office filing systems and records are maintained and updated for easy retrieval. Perform additional tasks as assigned in the workplan, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support team objectives.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or Statistics/Econometrics. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in related fields is required, particularly in economic research, statistical analysis, climate change studies, and sovereign and country risk analysis. Candidates should have a strong understanding of macroeconomic statistics, including national accounts, balance of payments, and public and external debt statistics. Familiarity with data sources and analytical tools commonly used in sovereign/country risk analysis is essential. Proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications, such as Haver, CEIC Data, and Macro bond, is also necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, or Statistics/Econometrics. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of economic data and risk analysis, which are central to the role of Senior Risk Management Assistant.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant work experience in fields related to economic research, statistical analysis, and sovereign and country risk analysis. This experience should include a strong focus on macroeconomic statistics and familiarity with analytical tools used in the industry. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of working with data and conducting thorough analyses to support risk management processes.

Languages:

Additional Notes:
This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination at the end of the initial period based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance.
