  • This department encompasses three main areas: private fundraising, communications, and advocacy. The ER department is in the early stages of developing a comprehensive global strategy aimed at enhancing the IRC's capacity to generate private income, advocate for policy changes, and increase brand awareness. The primary goal of this role is to leverage data science to drive insights that will optimize marketing strategies and influence business decisions. The Data Scientist will work closely with various teams, including Mass Marketing, Philanthropy, and Marketing & Mobilization, to translate complex data into actionable strategies that can significantly impact the IRC's fundraising efforts and overall mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Scientist will be responsible for translating broad analytical questions into actionable insights that will inform strategic decisions and hold business owners accountable for their goals. This includes working through the entire analysis pipeline, from problem definition and requirements gathering to data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and crafting recommendations. The role involves leading the development of advanced analytics products to enhance fundraising efforts, such as predictive modeling to identify potential donor upgrades or lapses, donor segmentation models, and longitudinal testing. The Data Scientist will also develop comprehensive data models and reports for external benchmarking, monitor key performance indicators, and analyze donor behavior to inform revenue projections. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with the Analytics team to build and enhance the ER Analytics data model, ensuring best practices in coding and analysis are followed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in data science or statistics, with a proven track record of building and deploying models that drive business outcomes in a marketing or customer-facing context. They should demonstrate experience in planning and executing complex analytics projects involving multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in SQL and relational databases is required, along with advanced knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation and modeling. Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is also necessary. Strong soft skills, including curiosity, collaboration in a multicultural environment, and effective data visualization and communication abilities, are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees are preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should possess a strong foundation in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, as well as experience with data visualization and reporting tools.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in data science or analytics, with a focus on marketing or customer engagement. Experience in nonprofit fundraising analytics or ecommerce analytics is a plus. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus, particularly if relevant to the IRC's operational regions or target demographics.

Additional Notes:
This position may require some international travel and offers the flexibility of remote work, either full-time or part-time. The role is based in the United States, and candidates must have the right to work in the country. The compensation for this position ranges from £45,000 to £65,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
