Job Overview: The position of Assistant(e) logistique is a part-time role that supports the cross-border operations of the UNFPA country office in Sudan from Chad. The Assistant(e) logistique will work under the general direction of the international operations manager of UNFPA in Chad and the international operations manager in Sudan, directly supervised by the supply chain specialist of the UNFPA country office in Sudan. The role requires a customer-oriented and results-focused approach to interpret rules, procedures, and guidelines, providing technical assistance to the UNFPA country office to ensure the overall logistics of UNFPA supplies in close collaboration with the operations team in Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant(e) logistique will perform a variety of duties including receiving deliveries at the warehouse, conducting physical inventory and inspections, reporting any damaged or lost items, and coordinating with warehouse focal points for the storage and unloading of supplies. The incumbent will coordinate with transporters, indicate the volume of supplies to be loaded, ensure truck availability, prepare shipping documents, supervise loading, and ensure all necessary approvals and authorizations are obtained. Additionally, the Assistant(e) logistique will work with country office staff to manage the movement of supplies to affected areas, collaborating with logistics groups, OCHA, and other mechanisms to ensure compliance with delivery requirements. The role also involves identifying appropriate storage facilities and transporters for medical supplies, establishing and maintaining an inventory management system, ensuring proper record-keeping, and coordinating with program teams to clarify and implement distribution plans. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and manage complex logistics activities in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree (or higher) in business, engineering, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. A minimum of four years of relevant experience in supply chain and logistics, preferably in medical logistics, is required. The services will be provided at the WFP warehouse in Abéché and the UNFPA office in Abéché. Monthly reports detailing progress, completed work, and achievements must be submitted via email before the end of each month. The Assistant(e) logistique will work under the authority of the international operations manager of UNFPA in Chad and the international operations manager in Sudan, with direct supervision from the supply chain specialist of the UNFPA country office in Sudan. Travel within Chad may be required as necessary.
