Job Overview: The Investment Officer position at IFC in Luanda, Angola, is a critical role aimed at driving impactful private sector investments that foster sustainable economic growth in Southern Africa. The officer will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities, structuring innovative solutions, and building partnerships to advance IFC's mission of reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity through private sector development. This role requires a proactive approach to developing investment projects and providing advisory services to clients, particularly in sectors such as Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Health, Education, Tourism, Retail, and Property. The officer will engage in market research, stakeholder engagement, and the design of upstream initiatives to create a pipeline of bankable projects, ensuring alignment with IFC's strategic priorities and development goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Identifying, developing, and executing high-quality investment and advisory opportunities in key sectors, focusing on Angola and Southern Africa.
Conducting thorough market research and sector analysis to identify potential investment opportunities and address market gaps.
Leading the design and implementation of upstream initiatives to create a robust pipeline of bankable projects.
Collaborating with private sector clients, government counterparts, and development partners to address regulatory and market constraints.
Structuring and negotiating innovative investment solutions that align with IFC's development impact goals.
Providing technical expertise and advisory support to enhance project viability and impact.
Working closely with World Bank Group colleagues to implement joint initiatives that improve the investment climate.
Monitoring and evaluating the performance of projects to ensure alignment with objectives and standards.
Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive results. 1
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field relevant to investment and advisory services. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in investment, advisory services, or project development is required, with demonstrated expertise in sectors such as Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Health, Education, Tourism, Retail, or Property. A proven track record in developing and executing investment pipelines, particularly in emerging markets, is essential. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills are necessary, along with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Public Policy. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of investment and advisory services in the context of private sector development.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in investment, advisory services, or project development. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to develop and execute investment pipelines, particularly in emerging markets or developing economies, showcasing their expertise in relevant sectors.
