Job Overview: The Accounting Analyst position is a critical role within the IAEA's Division of Budget and Finance, which is responsible for managing the financial resources necessary for the implementation of the Agency's scientific and technical programs. The Accounting Analyst will report directly to the Unit Head of the General Accounting Unit and will play a vital role in supporting the accounting and financial reporting processes. This position involves analyzing and recording financial transactions related to the Agency's short and long-term assets, documenting and analyzing business and financial reporting processes, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The Accounting Analyst will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data, reviewing expenditure accounts, and preparing reconciliations and internal controls. Duties and Responsibilities: The Accounting Analyst will be tasked with maintaining and updating key financial reports within the Oracle Financial Statement Generator (FSG), performing account analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and supporting the preparation of the IAEA's annual financial statements. Specific duties include reviewing and analyzing data to develop accounting entries, preparing schedules for external audits, and conducting additional accounting analyses to support various projects within the Unit. The role also involves drafting initial reports and presentations on key issues and assisting in the preparation of presentations for Agency staff. The Accounting Analyst will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of the Unit and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and compliance with IPSAS standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, professional certifications such as Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, or ACCA are highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of one year of work experience in accounting, particularly in the preparation of financial statements and bank reconciliations. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, are essential for this role. Candidates should also demonstrate openness and flexibility in identifying areas for improvement and generating new ideas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required for this position. Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $43,144, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
