Job Overview:
The Operations Professional position involves leading and managing teams of support staff in various specialized operational areas, including procurement, logistics, and human resources. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of services and transactions in these areas. This role requires a strong focus on team management, quality assurance, and compliance with organizational procedures and guidelines. The Operations Professional will also provide technical advice to clients and staff, oversee administrative processes, and identify opportunities for service line improvements. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment, ensuring that the team meets its objectives effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will supervise the delivery of services and transactions in specialized operational areas, manage teams of support staff, and ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines. Key responsibilities include:
  • Guiding and managing specialized support staff to deliver efficient services.
  • Quality assuring work products and processes.
  • Justifying and escalating procedural exceptions as necessary.
  • Facilitating the sharing of best practices and continuous learning within the team.
  • Providing technical advice to clients and staff on core service lines.
  • Overseeing the delivery of standard transactions and services aligned with business plans.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements for optimal client service.
  • Conducting training for clients and staff in business operations support.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include completion of secondary education, with desirable qualifications being training and certification in UN operational service areas or systems, and a university degree in business administration or a related field. WHO considers only higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:

Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and the local language is essential for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
