Job Overview:
The Senior Cloud Architect position is a critical role within the Digital Architecture unit of WFP's Information Technology Division. This position is responsible for leading the technical design of cloud hosting solutions, guiding various units and development teams in adopting public cloud providers and modern deployment models. The Senior Cloud Architect will oversee the evolution of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure services to effectively support the diverse workloads managed by WFP. This role requires a strategic mindset to define new architectural paradigms for public cloud services adoption and to ensure that the organization's cloud solutions are secure, efficient, and aligned with WFP's operational needs. The Senior Cloud Architect will also play a key role in mentoring and providing direction to development teams, fostering an environment of open communication and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Cloud Architect will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the design of corporate solutions utilizing public cloud services such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS); evolving the AWS and Azure cloud governance framework and ensuring compliance; coordinating the integration of corporate solutions within WFP's Digital Core and API ecosystem; supporting the migration of existing solutions to cloud-native deployments; enhancing Continuous Delivery pipelines in collaboration with the WFP DevOps team; defining new architectural paradigms for public cloud services; guiding IT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security in modeling secure cloud solutions; identifying new cloud opportunities; reviewing and evolving cloud account management practices; supporting the corporate initiative to migrate services to the cloud; designing cloud-native architectures for new software components; ensuring high technical quality of IT solutions; and creating an inspiring team environment with open communication.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent post-secondary education combined with a minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience in software development or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have at least 8 years of experience working with public cloud solutions and managing enterprise IT environments. A solid background in managing complex AWS organizations with numerous accounts is essential, along with experience in implementing security frameworks for mission-critical AWS ecosystems. Familiarity with API ecosystems and a strong understanding of SOA/Microservices architectures are also required. Candidates should demonstrate a broad conceptual understanding of solution architecture trends and possess proficiency in various technologies, frameworks, and languages relevant to cloud solutions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with a combination of post-secondary education and extensive professional experience in software development or related areas. Continuous professional development and certifications in cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Azure, are highly desirable and will enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in public cloud solutions, with a proven track record of managing and architecting enterprise IT environments. This experience should include substantial involvement in complex AWS organizations, demonstrating the ability to handle multiple AWS accounts and implement necessary security measures for production environments. Candidates should also have experience in API ecosystems and a strong understanding of SOA/Microservices architectures, showcasing their capability to lead cloud initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, candidates should possess intermediate knowledge of another official UN language, which may include Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese, as these are considered desirable skills that can enhance communication within the organization.
