Job Overview:
The position of International Consultant for Photography and Videography Services is crucial for the UNFPA Pacific Sub-Regional Office, which serves 14 Pacific island countries and territories. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist to produce high-quality multimedia content that supports UNFPA's mission and strategic objectives. This role involves capturing compelling stories through photography and videography that highlight UNFPA's programs and interventions in the Pacific region. The consultant will be responsible for creating content for various platforms, including social media, digital campaigns, and the UNFPA website. The consultant's work will contribute to raising awareness about UNFPA's initiatives and the challenges faced by women and girls in the region, ultimately supporting the organization's goals of promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Provide photography and videography services for the production of multimedia stories, social media outputs, digital campaigns, and website content.
  • Conduct field trips across the Pacific region to capture UNFPA's programs and interventions.
  • Submit high-quality photo and video content, including interviews and B-roll footage, with detailed captions that include names, ages, locations, and descriptions.
  • Ensure that all photo and video content is accompanied by signed consent forms from subjects.
  • Deliver all products by agreed deadlines, including final HD video files and high-quality photos.
  • Maintain high standards of technical quality in all produced content, ensuring sound quality and appropriate filming techniques.
  • Collaborate with the Communication Specialist to align content with UNFPA's messaging and branding.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in multimedia, communication, journalism, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications as a videographer and photographer with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the conception and production of multimedia content.
  • Strong knowledge of technical requirements and settings for filming in various environments, including outdoor and indoor settings.
  • Familiarity with new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
  • Experience working in development or humanitarian contexts is desirable.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality products that meet specified technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards in covering stories related to women and children is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in multimedia, communication, journalism, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and storytelling, as well as the technical skills required for photography and videography.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in photography and videography. This experience should include a proven track record of producing high-quality multimedia content, as well as familiarity with the technical aspects of filming and editing. Experience in a development or humanitarian context is preferred, as it provides valuable insights into the challenges and sensitivities involved in capturing stories related to women and children.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Pacific languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities and subjects.

Additional Notes:
This position is a consultancy role, and payment will be made at the end of each month based on a set daily fee and the number of days worked. The consultant is required to submit an end-of-month report detailing the work performed, along with a supervisor's certification of satisfactory delivery.
