Job Overview:

The officer is expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, local partners, and civil society, to enhance the protection capacity and response mechanisms in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Protection Cluster Coordination Officer include supporting the Protection Cluster to ensure that protection informs and shapes the overall humanitarian response. This involves organizing and facilitating cluster meetings, coordinating with government counterparts, conducting protection needs assessments, and providing inputs for funding criteria and resource mobilization. The officer will assist in delivering training activities for Protection Cluster members and local partners, support the development of global protection policies, and ensure effective information management within the cluster. Additionally, the officer will draft reports, prepare advocacy statements, and facilitate negotiations on project proposals and funding criteria. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks while fostering a collaborative environment among diverse stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of International Refugee and Human Rights Law, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience for those with an undergraduate degree, two years for those with a graduate degree, or one year for those with a doctorate. Essential functional skills include knowledge of human rights law and international refugee law. The position requires a commitment to upholding UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multi-functional team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Law, International Law, Political Sciences, or a related field. Experience:
