Job Overview: The Senior Officer, Technical Partnerships at the IRC is a pivotal role aimed at enhancing the organization's private fundraising capabilities and strategic partnerships. This position is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of key funding priorities and driving the IRC's ambitious Impact @ Scale (I@S) plans, which focus on maximizing the impact of every dollar invested in humanitarian efforts. The Senior Officer will collaborate with various internal teams, including high-value fundraisers and technical units, to ensure alignment and effective communication across the organization. The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong background in Economic Recovery & Development (ERD) and climate programming, as well as experience in strategic partnership development and fundraising. The Senior Officer will play a crucial role in shaping donor engagement strategies and enhancing IRC's competitiveness in priority areas, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of delivering lasting impact for communities in need.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Influencing and guiding strategic private-sector engagement across fundraising priorities, working closely with the Associate Director of ERD and I@S Leadership to develop and implement business development strategies.
Representing I@S priority areas within agile teams and thought leadership working groups, shaping resource mobilization strategies, and supporting alignment across technical and fundraising teams.
Collaborating with Global Practice Leads (GPLs) and fundraisers to develop project ideas, messaging, and funding pitches.
Providing high-level advisory input to GPLs and fundraising teams, maintaining a portfolio of support for key priority areas.
Developing compelling materials that balance technical depth with clarity for various audiences.
Leading proposal development processes and participating in donor meetings to provide technical expertise and strategy support.
Engaging across the duration of grants to ensure compliance and design long-term engagement strategies with donors.
Operationalizing standard workflows for cross-functional projects and ensuring effective internal coordination and communication.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess 6-7 years of relevant work experience, ideally within a large International Non-Governmental Organization, focusing on programs, fundraising, or advocacy. They should demonstrate outstanding communication, relationship management, writing, and presentation skills, as well as experience with global ERD programming in low-resource settings. A proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively around ERD programming and strategy is essential, along with experience in fundraising and grants management processes. Candidates should have a strong track record of delivering sophisticated proposals and projects, and experience across strategic partnership development, program design, and fundraising channels is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in international development, social work, or a related field is required, or equivalent professional experience. A Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is considered a bonus, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for this role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly in Economic Recovery & Development programming, with a focus on fundraising and strategic partnerships. Experience working with global, cross-cultural teams is highly valued, as is a demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures and processes.
Languages: While English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Arabic would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners.
