Job Overview:
The Protection Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing DRC's protection programming in Tawila, ensuring that all interventions are of high quality and aligned with both DRC's and international standards. This position requires a professional with extensive experience in protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case management, particularly in supervising complex cases and providing psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support to individuals affected by conflict and violence. The Protection Manager is responsible for the strategic direction of protection projects, ensuring effective implementation across the project cycle, and providing technical support to local partners. The role also emphasizes the importance of survivor-centered and rights-based approaches in all case management and psychosocial support services, fostering strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring sound financial and operational management of the protection program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Manager's duties include overseeing the implementation of protection projects, providing strategic leadership, and ensuring high-quality delivery of activities related to Gender-Based Violence, Protection Case Management, and Psychosocial Support. The role involves offering technical support and guidance to protection staff, leading capacity strengthening initiatives, and developing program tools and Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, the Protection Manager is responsible for supervising and mentoring protection staff, contributing to strategic planning processes, ensuring quality assurance of interventions, and preparing internal and external reports. Coordination with other DRC sectors and external stakeholders is also a key responsibility, along with budget management and ensuring resources are effectively utilized in alignment with donor requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in law, social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related field, with relevant experience considered as a substitute. A minimum of 4-5 years of proven experience in protection management and programming is required, along with demonstrated expertise in Protection Case Management and GBV Case Management. Knowledge of International Refugee Law, International Human Rights Law, and International Humanitarian Law is essential. Candidates should also have experience in designing and implementing protection interventions, capacity development, and a strong understanding of protection mainstreaming and accountability to affected populations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as law, social sciences, or humanitarian studies. Candidates with equivalent practical experience in protection programming may also be considered. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in the principles of humanitarian assistance and protection.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in protection programming and management. Candidates should have a proven track record in Protection Case Management and GBV Case Management, including the ability to supervise complex cases and apply trauma-informed approaches. Experience in psychosocial support programming and project cycle management, including proposal writing and donor reporting, is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, with the ability to communicate and write clearly in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for seven months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for International staff, and the position is graded at M.F. The start date is set for March 2026, and the duty station will be in Tawila, North Darfur. The Protection Manager will report to the Area Manager and is expected to demonstrate DRC’s core competencies, including striving for excellence, collaborating effectively, taking the lead, communicating transparently, and demonstrating integrity in all actions.
