Job Overview:
The Caseworker position is integral to the IRC's mission of supporting refugees and qualified immigrants during their resettlement process. This role involves providing trauma-informed services that facilitate a positive resettlement experience and promote client self-sufficiency. The Caseworker will engage closely with clients to develop tailored service plans that address their unique needs and preferences. This includes coordinating essential services such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation, ensuring that clients are well-oriented to their new environment. The Caseworker will also conduct intake assessments, monitor client progress, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that clients have access to the necessary resources and support. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with clients and community partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Caseworker's responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at supporting clients throughout their resettlement journey. Key duties include:
  • Coordinating and delivering timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure clients have access to essential living resources such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation.
  • Conducting intake assessments to evaluate client needs and developing individualized self-sufficiency plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Providing ongoing support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy to help clients achieve their established goals.
  • Monitoring client progress and addressing any challenges that arise, ensuring that available resources are effectively utilized.
  • Documenting client interactions and maintaining accurate records in accordance with program requirements.
  • Collaborating with coworkers and partner organizations to build and maintain relationships that benefit clients.
  • Utilizing personal or IRC vehicles to transport clients and materials as needed, including airport pickups.
  • Potentially training and leading volunteers and interns in their activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the IRC.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Caseworker position should possess a range of qualifications that enable them to effectively support clients. Required qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant professional experience in the human services field is required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly desirable.
  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills are essential for effective collaboration with clients and partners.
  • Demonstrated success in a multicultural environment, showcasing the ability to communicate effectively across diverse backgrounds.
  • A self-starter mentality with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work outputs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to utilize digital tools for data entry and research.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Caseworker position includes a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of human services and the specific needs of refugees and immigrants. Experience:

Additional Notes:
The Caseworker position is a full-time role that may involve a combination of standard office work, remote tasks, and fieldwork within the service delivery area. The compensation for this position is set at a pay range of $25 per hour, applicable to US-based candidates. This pay range is influenced by various factors, including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget considerations.
