Job Overview: As a Senior Investment Officer at ADB, you will play a crucial role in supporting and participating in the processing of private sector financing for financial institutions projects and technical assistance in India and South Asia. Your responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining client relationships, facilitating discussions with potential financial institutions, and managing relationships with regional governments. You will be involved in business development, project processing, and the development of policies and strategies that align with ADB's developmental goals for the private sector. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and screening projects for their developmental aspects and commercial viability, contributing to the development of a robust project pipeline for the Private Sector Financial Institutions Division (PSFI).
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Investment Officer include:
Business Development: Participate in discussions with potential private sector and state-owned financial institutions for project development. Identify and screen projects for their developmental aspects and commercial viability.
Project Processing: Support the processing of projects by undertaking due diligence, risk analysis, financial modeling, and structuring of loans, equity investments, guarantees, and technical assistance. Analyze financial statements and projections, perform sensitivity analysis, and prepare project documentation and presentation materials. Represent ADB in transactions with external advisors, consultants, and lawyers. Conduct sector and country research as part of transaction risk assessment and make recommendations to the project team leader. Collaborate with the Office of Risk Management and Safeguards Specialists to address credit-related and safeguard issues. Work with the Treasury Department to facilitate local currency lending.
Policy Development: Support the development of policies and strategies for ADB's developmental goals for the private sector in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with the Finance Sector Group and other sovereign teams on various initiatives. Liaise with governments to advocate and promote PSFI projects.
Other Tasks: Perform other tasks as assigned and reflected in the incumbent's workplan.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the Senior Investment Officer position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in management or finance, preferably with a CFA qualification. A Master's degree or equivalent is preferred. Candidates should have at least 8 years of work experience, with a minimum of 4 years in the financial sector, particularly in investment management, investment banking, consulting, credit analysis, or research focused on financial institutions. Experience in deal origination in debt and/or equity transactions in India is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, the ability to organize and analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively as a constructive team member.

Additional Notes: This position is open to both internal and external applicants and is classified as a local staff position, meaning it is only available to nationals and permanent residents of India. The appointment is fixed-term with the option to renew, initially for a period of up to 3 years or until the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. After the initial period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for an additional 3 years based on various factors, including the staff's performance and the organization's needs.
